Established Lyle Downey Scholarship fund. The scholarship is for non-music majors who participate in the KSU Band. I taught music in the public schools of Kansas from 1941 until retiring in 1965. In June 1965 I opened a music store in Larned which my wife and I operated until our retirement in 1984. I am still blowing the old horn. I hold down the 4th chair trumpet in the J Bennet Band, a 16-piece swing/jazz/dance band out of Great Bend, KS. I have played in the Great Bend City Band for 32 years.
